LEADING FARMER ADOPTION OF SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE FOR CLIMATE RESILIENCE (FASA) PROJECT
The Leading Farmer Adoption of Sustainable Agriculture for Climate Resilience (FASA) Project draws on 4 key themes aimed at increasing awareness, knowledge, and skills among farmers and landholders to adopt best-practice climate-smart sustainable agriculture approaches in the Corangamite catchment region of south west Victoria;
- Resilient Farming Course – delivered to 40 farmers across 4 Landcare networks in the Corangamite catchment
- Farmer Peer Group Mentoring Initiative – fostering ongoing farmer peer learning and implementation of practice change with expert advisor support post course
- Sustainable Agriculture Educator Training Position – training for 8 (2 per network) emerging advisors in sustainable agriculture sector to support farmer adoption of sustainable agriculture by ensuring continuity of expertise
- GROUNDED Festival Farming Conference – brings world experts in rebuilding soil and encouraging biodiversity while running viable financial farm businesses to the local level, attracting potential participants and offering a launch point for the project

Courses and training starts August 2026 continuing over the next 2 years alongside scheduled farmer peer group mentoring sessions through to April 2028. The project is being delivered across 4 Landcare network areas including the Upper Barwon Landcare Network, Central Otway Landcare Network, Heytesbury and District Landcare Network and Warrnambool Coastcare Landcare Network with the support of the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (Corangamite CMA), Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation and Soils For Life.
This project is supported by the Australian Government through funding from the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program under the Natural Heritage Trust.
